Technical Track

We'll cover where custom business rules are available and show several examples of business rules in action. We'll also show how you can started creating your own business rules.

Ken Wedge is the newest member of the AccuFund Support Team, where he'll be specializing in Time Clocks and Web Products. Prior to joining AccuFund, Ken has nearly 20 years of experience as a Director of Technology in the Education Channel and the Hotel Industry. He has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Computer Information Systems and a Master's Degree in Information Technology Management. In his spare time, Ken is an avid photographer, enjoys kayaking the rivers and streams of New England, and making Salsa, Hot Sauce, Hot Pickles, and Hot Pepper Jelly; all fresh from his garden.

Introduction to Calculations

What’s Most Important From a Business Perspective

Data and technologies are growing exponentially creating huge risks and opportunities. Beyond Big data, Hadoop, and NoSQL databases, data fabric and data hub platforms are emerging and data is being collected and managed  in an increasingly variety of formats such as in mobile apps, connected cars and other devices, wearables, Smart Meters, and more. AI and machine learning algorithms are being used to develop and manage data catalogues and assist with data curation. New roles such as the data interpreter are arising. New capabilities are shaking up complete industries such as the ability, on a daily basis, to gather pedabtyes of information via IoT devices that are multiplying exponentially. Data governance and data security issues are rapidly growing with the increasing number of devices and amount of information.

Len Silverston is a corporate and personal mindfulness facilitator, coach, and an internationally recognized human behavior and technology consultant. He is a fully ordained Zen priest, mediation teacher, and spiritual leader and provides training, coaching, workshops, and retreats through his organization, Zen With Len. He is a best-selling author and teacher and has lectured around the world on human behavior and technology. Kirstin's passion is building tools to help clients manage large datasets. She earned her MS from Colorado State University and her BS from University of Denver. Her past projects include online databases, mobile field guides, and customized on-site databases. She now builds mobile and web applications for AccuFund.

 

Kirstin’s love of paddle boarding took her to Maui, where she and her dachshund, Derby, get out on the water as often as they can.

When Michael was a sophomore in college, the warehouse where he stocked shelves implemented V1 of Great Plains on an original IBM PC – and since he had taken an ACCT 101 course, he was the logical choice to be the bookkeeper. That started Michael's long obsession with automated accounting and organizational efficiency.  He became a support technician with a fund accounting developer, moving into managing the consulting department for a large CPA firm. There, he trained clients to automate their finances and improve their processes.  He joined AccuFund in 2008 in a sales role, but now, as the Customer Success Manager, he enjoys helping clients get the most out of their AccuFund System – just as he always has.  In his spare time, Michael enjoys hiking and biking with his wife and playing with his grandchildren.

Custom Apps Using AccuFund API's

Application programming interfaces enable programs to talk to each other and share data back and forth. We'll look at ways AccuFund can talk to external APIs, and ways that other programs can talk to AccuFund's APIs. We'll have examples of things you can do with these APIs, ranging from very simple, to more complex.

Web Hooks

Many third party applications provide WebHook functionality. Built into AccuFund's core calculations, is the ability to push data to a web hook. Learn about the supported data formats and how you can use this to interact with the other tools your organization may use. A working example of integrating with the collaboration tool Slack will be provided.
